For those looking to be in air -conditioning for a few hours, there are so many terrific museums.

Museum of Natural History - Central Park West at 79 street. www.amnh.org There is also the Rose Center (the giant silver sphere) which is the space observatory with a sound and light show.

Metropolitan Museum of Art - 5th Avenue and 82 Street. It's the Met, need we say more? Hundreds of world famous masterpieces.

The Jewish Museum - 92 street and 5th Avenue (closed on Saturdays) Devoted to Jewish art and culture.

Guggenheim Museum - 89 Street and 5th Avenue Frank Lyoyd Wright landmark building housing modern art.

Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. Tough to find but if you have spare time, worth the moving experience.
